Bushings / sleeve bearings, also called journal or plain bearings, are used to constrain, guide, or reduce friction in rotary or linear applications.  They work by means of sliding action as opposed to the rolling action used by ball, roller and needle bearings.  As in all bearings, proper lubrication is required to reduce wear and friction.  Terms such as fluid film, self-lubricated, hydrostatic, and hydrodynamic are commonly designations for plain bearings.

Dimensions

Design Units:      Unit designation for O.D., I.D., etc.
   Your choices are...

   Inch

Units are inches or fractions of an inch.

   Metric

Units such as millimeters or centimeters.

Search Logic:      All products with ANY of the selected attributes will be returned as matches. Leaving all boxes unchecked will not limit the search criteria for this question; products with all attribute options will be returned as matches.
   Bore

The bearing industry uses a standard numbering system for bearings with metric-diameter bores. If the bore is hexagonal, enter the dimension across the flats.  If the bore is tapered, enter the smaller diameter. For bore sizes 04 and up, multiply the bore size by 5 to identify the bore diameter in millimeters (mm). Refer to the table below.

Search Logic:      User may specify either, both, or neither of the "At Least" and "No More Than" values. Products returned as matches will meet all specified criteria.
   Outside Diameter

Enter the outside diameter of the bearing. For housed bearings, include the housing. For flanged bearings, exclude the flange.

Search Logic:      User may specify either, both, or neither of the "At Least" and "No More Than" values. Products returned as matches will meet all specified criteria.
   Outer Ring Width:

The width of the outer ring.

Search Logic:      User may specify either, both, or neither of the "At Least" and "No More Than" values. Products returned as matches will meet all specified criteria.
   Overall Width

Enter the overall width of the bearing or bearing assembly, including the locking collar (if present).

Search Logic:      User may specify either, both, or neither of the "At Least" and "No More Than" values. Products returned as matches will meet all specified criteria.

Operating Specifications
Do not over-specify.  Enter only those loads that apply for bearing type and application.  Static and dynamic loads may not be available for all bearing types and suppliers.

   Static Radial Load

Static radial load is the maximum radial load a bearing can endure without excessive, permanent deformation.

Search Logic:      User may specify either, both, or neither of the "At Least" and "No More Than" values. Products returned as matches will meet all specified criteria.
   Dynamic Radial Load

Dynamic radial load is the calculated, constant, radial load which a group of identical bearings can endure theoretically for a rating life of 1 million revolutions of the inner ring.

Search Logic:      User may specify either, both, or neither of the "At Least" and "No More Than" values. Products returned as matches will meet all specified criteria.
Special Material / Plating Options

   Stainless Steel

Stainless steel is chemical and corrosion resistant and can have relatively high pressure ratings.

Search Logic:      "Required" and "Must Not Have" criteria limit returned matches as specified. Products with optional attributes will be returned for either choice.
   Plastic

Polymer Bearing Inserts

Any of numerous organic, synthetic, or processed materials that are mostly thermoplastic or thermosetting polymers of high molecular weight and that can be made into objects, films, or filaments.

Search Logic:      "Required" and "Must Not Have" criteria limit returned matches as specified. Products with optional attributes will be returned for either choice.
   Ceramic Races

Bearing races are constructed of ceramic (typically Si3N4).

Search Logic:      "Required" and "Must Not Have" criteria limit returned matches as specified. Products with optional attributes will be returned for either choice.
   Plated

Bearing is plated.  Common plating materials are cadmium and chrome.

Search Logic:      "Required" and "Must Not Have" criteria limit returned matches as specified. Products with optional attributes will be returned for either choice.
Seals

Seals:      Seals provide protection from contamination and as a retainer for lubricant.
   Your choices are...

   None (Open Bearing)

Bearing is open, has no seals or shields.  Open bearings offer no protection from contamination or lubricant containment, but have higher maximum speed capabilities than bearings with seals or shields.
