Elinx Industrial Ethernet Media Converters

Elinx Industrial Ethernet Media Converters

Media converters allow two Ethernet devices with different physical media to communicate with each other. In most applications the media converter converts a copper Ethernet connection to fiber media. The fiber media could be multi-mode or single-mode fiber and usually consists of an ST or SC style connector. Some common reasons for using media converters are Ethernet extension, noise immunity, and protection against surges and spikes.

Have you ever needed to convert your multi-mode fiber into single-mode fiber due to equipment upgrades or pre-existing fiber runs? Or have you simply needed to extend Ethernet beyond its normal capabilities? B&B Electronics also offers media converters with fiber-to-fiber conversions. This is extremely handy for retrofit applications with existing fiber where new equipment uses an opposite fiber type. You may even find that some new applications require a mixture of single-mode and multi-mode fiber due to equipment used or budgetary reasons.
